What is a Crile Artery Forceps?
The Crile Artery Forceps is the most widely used hemostatic forceps in general surgery. It is the perfect middle-ground instrument – bigger and stronger than a Mosquito, but more delicate than a Kelly forceps.
The defining feature of a Crile is that its jaws are serrated only halfway (half-serrated). This gives it a more delicate grip compared to a fully serrated Kelly, making it ideal for clamping medium-sized vessels and soft tissues without excessive trauma.
We offer two functional types:
1. Standard Crile (SF-06-21 to SF-06-24): Fully serrated half-length, for clamping vessels and controlling bleeding.
2. Crile-Kocher with 1×2 Teeth (SF-06-25, SF-06-26): Features interlocking 1×2 teeth at the tip. This provides a much firmer, non-slip grip on tough tissues, fascia, and for holding bleeding vessels that are difficult to grasp.
Available in 14cm for superficial work and 16cm for deeper cavities.
Key Features & Benefits:
- The Surgeon’s Workhorse: The ideal size for general surgery – perfect for clamping medium vessels and handling tissues.
- Half-Serrated Jaws: The classic Crile feature – serrations go halfway up the jaw, providing a delicate but secure hold, less traumatic than Kelly.
- 1×2 Teeth Option for Extra Grip: Kocher teeth version (SF-06-25 / SF-06-26) locks into tissue and will not slip, perfect for tough fascia and bleeding pedicles.
- Straight & Curved for Every Angle: Straight for surface work, Curved for deep and angled clamping with better visibility.
- Two Lengths: 14cm for standard surgery, 16cm for deeper access.
- Premium German Stainless Steel: Forged from high-grade stainless steel. Box joint with ratchet lock, fully autoclavable.
